What You'll Need:

  • A free Canva account
  • The book cover image. This can be found from a quick image search on Google or copied from Amazon, Goodreads, Storygraph etc.
  • A standard printer and regular or sticker paper. (8.5 x 11 inch)
  • Scissors or a paper trimmer

Step by Step Instruction:

  1. Click the button below to open the Canva template.
  2. Click "View template" then log into Canva or create an account. You will have to create your own copy to edit the template.
  3. On Google, search the book title + "book cover", then click on images. Hover over your desired book cover, right click then select save or copy image. I usually use the covers from Amazon.
  4. Paste or upload the image into Canva then drag and drop the image into the frame of your choice. The book cover will automatically be resized.
  5. Fill as many frames as you like. Download your design as a PDF or image (png/jpg).
  6. Print on your preferred paper and cut each book cover to size.

Quick Tips:

  • Sticker paper gives the most polished look. Here's the exact one that I use - https://a.co/d/0aCSljSB
  • If you are using regular copy paper, use double sided tape on the back for a clean look.
  • To avoid possible waste, think about all of the books that you actually plan to read in the near future and start with those book covers.
  • I typically make at least 3 copies of each book cover since there are multiple places to add them in our reading journal. (Book reviews, Challenges, Five star reads etc.)
